My Adventurous Journey through the Enchanting Dooars

Embarking on a thrilling journey through the enchanting Dooars region was a dream come true for me. From the dense forests and majestic wildlife to the serene hill stations and spiritual retreats, Dooars had it all. Join me as I recount my exciting adventures, starting from Howrah Station, discovering the best ways to reach Dooars, exploring captivating sightseeing spots, and immersing myself in the vibrant Boroli Fish Festival. So, tie your seatbelts and get ready for an memorable ride!

Day 1: Chapramari or Medna Forest watch Tower:

Chapramari or Medna Forest Watch Tower Visit My journey began at Howrah Station, where I boarded a train to New Jalpaiguri (NJP). From NJP, I hired a private taxi to reach Chapramari or Medna Forest Watch Tower, both located in the Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary. As I ventured into the sanctuary, I was greeted by the captivating sight of lush greenery and a variety of wildlife. The watchtowers offered panoramic views, allowing me to spot elephants, deer, and colorful bird species in their natural habitat.

Delving into the Mystical Forest:

Gorumara National Park Our journey begins with a visit to the legendary Gorumara National Park. As we traverse the rugged terrains and dense vegetation, we find ourselves in awe of the park's rich biodiversity. The sound of chirping birds accompanies us along the way, and we spot herds of elephants gracefully moving through the wilderness. With a stroke of luck, we catch glimpses of the elusive royal Bengal tiger, camouflaged amidst the vibrant flora. Each encounter fuels our excitement, reminding us of the raw power and beauty of nature.

Day 2: Jaldapara Forest Safari and visit Totopara or Southkarbari Natural Park:

This reserve is home to the majestic Bengal tigers and the endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros. I was fortunate enough to spot these incredible creatures up close while exploring the dense forests and grasslands. After the safari, I made a quick visit to either Totopara, a unique village inhabited by the Toto tribe, or Southkarbari Natural Park, known for its pristine beauty and diverse flora and fauna. Both places offered a glimpse into the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region.

Day 3: Early morning Elephant ride and Trip to Bauxa/Jayenti for trekking rock-climbong jungle Safari:

Afterward, I embarked on a trip to Buxa or Jayanti, where adventure awaited me. I indulged in exhilarating treks, rock climbing, and jungle safaris, immersing myself in the raw beauty of nature. The Buxa and Jayanti regions offered breathtaking vistas, historical ruins, and hidden trails that were a treat for the adventurous soul.

Day 4: Chilled out sightseeing at hill stations like Jalong,Bindu,Suntaleykhola,Samsing and Rock Island.

These picturesque locations were adorned with cascading waterfalls, glistening rivers, and rolling hills. I took leisurely walks, soaked in the soothing atmosphere, and marveled at the beauty of nature surrounding me.

Day 5: Scenic beauty of lava lolegaon:

Scenic Beauty of Lava Lolegaon On the fifth day, I traveled to Lava Lolegaon, a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatching enthusiasts. The lush green forests, stunning sunrise views, and the famous Canopy Walk at Lolegaon left me awestruck. I immersed myself in the tranquility of the surroundings, capturing the breathtaking landscapes in my heart and camera.

Day 6: Visit to holy temples of Bhutan and beautiful tea gardens:

Visit to Holy Temples and Spiritual Retreats in Bhutan and Beautiful Tea Gardens, and Boroli Fish Festival On the final day of my journey, I crossed over to the neighboring country of Bhutan to visit holy temples and spiritual retreats. The serene ambiance and peaceful atmosphere provided the perfect setting for meditation and introspection. I also explored the beautiful tea gardens of Dooars, taking in the aromatic fragrance and learning about the tea-making process.

Boroli Fish Festival:

During my visit, I was lucky to be a part of the vibrant Boroli Fish Festival. This summer festival celebrated the abundant fish harvest in the region, offering a feast of delicious fish dishes and showcasing the vibrant culture of Dooars.


My adventures in the enchanting Dooars region were nothing short of extraordinary. From the captivating wildlife and serene hill stations to the spiritual retreats and vibrant festivals, Dooars had something to offer for every traveller. As I bid farewell to this magical land, I carried cherished memories, breath-taking photographs, and a renewed sense of wonder. Dooars truly captured my heart and left an indelible mark on my soul.
